Hooke's law...

Hooke's law: 1.) The extension of an object is directly proportional to the force being applied to it 2.) A spring will return to it's original shape when the force has been removed so long as the elastic limit has not been exceeded

Wiring a plug...

The Live wire carries current to the appliance at a high voltage. The neutral wire completes the circuit and carries current away from the appliance. The earth wire is a safety wire and connects the metal case of the appliance to the earth.
