2. How would you construct a dart seam?

  • Take 2 pieces of fabric, fold 1cm from edge on each piece and iron. Unfold the pieces and overlap the previously folded edges. Fold them again so the edges are interlocked together. Pin the pieces to hold in place and stitch along the fold on each side.
  • Draw dart outline, on front of fabric put pins in top points and bottom point. Match up 2 top points so fabric is folded and stitch starting from the matched up point down to bottom point. Do not backstitch at the end, only and the start.
  • Place wrong sides together, Mark and pin 1cm seam allowance, stitch and trim to 5mm. Fold right sides together, press and stitch 1cm away from fold. Press seam flat
  • Cut bious binding. Unfold and pin yo edge of fabric. Sew along the ditch. Use a slip stitch to attach other side.
