What is speciation?
The development of a new species. It occurs when population sof the same species becoem so different that they no longer breed together to produce fertile offspring.

What is Isoloation?
Is wherepopulations of a species are seperated. It can happen due to a physical barrier e.g. floods and earthquakes can cause barriers that geographically isolate some individuals from the main population.

Conditions on either dside of the barrier will be..
slightly different e.g. may have differnt climates Because the environmentis differnt on each side, differnt characteristics will become more common in each population.

indicviduals from the differnt populations will have changed so much that they wont be able to breed with one anotherto prodcue fertile offspring.
