Scripture
During the story of the Last Supper, the Gospels of Luke records Jesus as breaking bread and pouring wine, and saying:
“Take, eat, this is my body''. Take, drink, this is my blood. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Holy communion: Why is it important?
Almost every denomination (type) of Christian church celebrates Holy Communion (Quakers & The Salvation Army do not have communion services).
Some Christians do it every time they meet, others do it occasionally.

What are the differences between how Holy Communion is celebrated?
Catholics are given bread by the priest and wine from a shared cup, whereas Orthodox Christians take the bread and wine from the same spoon.

Holy Communion (Eucharist): What is believed by Roman Catholics?
On consecration, the bread (host) and the wine change completely into the actual body and blood of Christ. This change is known as Transubstantiation.
