Chapter 1- Christmas Eve

At the start of the chapter arthur kipps who is seen to be the rational protaginist talks about the weathert.He describes how came to monks piece and meeting mr bentley.Arthur is married to esme and has 4 kids, he later writes about crythin giford.

Chapter 2 -Alondon particular

Its set in nov and arthur is going on a buisness trip for his boss, he is going to eel marsh house and will attend the funneral of mrs drablow, mr bentley is persistant that he cannot go, so sends arthur on his way.

Chapter 3-The journey North

Arthur takes the train and goes through mrs Drablows files, he meets sam daily, he seems intrested in the papers, but kipps ignores him.Sam talks about the dreary countryside and offers him a lift in an automobile, which tells us what period were in.

Chapter4-The funeral of mrs Drablow

Arthur stays at a hotel, the next day he attends the funneral, there is barely anyone there.Later on mr kipps sees a woman in black, however mr jerome denies seeing her and decides hes not taking arthur to eel marsh house.
