What happens when a current flows through a wire?
It causes a magnetic field
1 of 9
What does direction of the magnetic field depend on?
Direction of the current
2 of 9
What happens if you change the direction of the current?
The direction of the magnetic field also changes
3 of 9
What doe the strength of the magnetic field depend on?
The strength of the current
4 of 9
What is a solenoid?
When a wire is made in to coil
5 of 9
Why is the magnetic field weaker outside the solenoid?
The fields from side of the coil tends to cancel out the fields from the other side giving a weaker field outside.
6 of 9
What is an Electromagnmet?
A coil of wire with current flowing through it.
7 of 9
Where is the magnetic field strongest in a wire?
Closer to the wire and gets weaker as you increase distance
8 of 9
How can the magnetic field of an electromagnet be made stronger?
Putting a piece of iron inside the coil especially if its a soft iron core.
