What is diffusion?
Diffusion is the spreading out of particles from an area of higher concentration to an aea of lower concentraion
1 of 6
Where does diffusion happen?
In solutions and gases- because the particles in these substances ar4e free to move around randomly
2 of 6
Give an example of diffusion taking place
Perfume is sprayed on one side of a room and it will gradually diffuse through the air and fill the whole room.
3 of 6
What happens is the concentration gradient is big?
The diffusion rate will happen faster
4 of 6
Does a high temperature give a faster or slower diffusuion?
A faster diffusion rate because the particles have more energy so they will move around faster
5 of 6
A student adds a drop pof ink to a glass of cold water, what will the student see?
The ink will diffuse and spread out through the water. This is because the ink particles are moving from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration. The rate of diffusion would happen slower because the water is cold.
