What is Type 1 diabetes?
When someone has a lack of insulin, as a result their blood sugar levels can rise to a dangerous level.

How can Type 1 diabetes be controlled?
Avoiding foods rich in carbs (as this causes glucose levels to rise). Inject insulin at mealtimes into subcutaneous tissues.

Why is it most effective if the insulin is injected at meal times?
Because this will make the liver remove the glucose as soon as it enters the blood when the food is being digested. Which stops the level of glucose in the blood getting too high.

What reduces the amount of insulin that needs to be injected?
Eating a healthy diet. Doing regular exercise.

What is Type 2 diabetes?
When the person is resistant to insulin or the pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin

What increases the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes?
Obesity. Having a BMI over 30.

What can control Type 2 diabetes?
Eating a healthy diet. Regular exercise. Losing weight if needed. Medication. Insulin injections.
