A pilot study is a small-scale conducted to pre-test a method before conducting a large study

One reason why a pilot study might be conducted is so that the experimenters can identify any problems with the study, such as questions on a questionnaire that don't make sense and these problems can be resolved before the large-scale study

Protection from harm. It is possible to argue that the study by Bandura et al. was unethical because it may have had long-term effects on the children who participated. They may have become more aggressive permanently because of their experiences

Unlikely that the children's parents gave full informed consent. Although thanked the headteacher of the nursery school, those not give details of asking for parents permission. Even if parents had been asked it is unlikely that full consent would .
