what is deviance?
actions that go against the norms and values of a society or group

an action that is against the law

what is cross-cultural deviance? give an example
something that is deviant in some cultures but not in others- eating meat

what is situational deviance? give an example
something that is deviant only in certain situations- nudity at school is deviant but not in your own home

what is historical deviance? give an example
something that is only deviant at a certain time- now it is okay to have a child before marriage but in the past it was seen as deviant

what is deviance based on position/role? give an example
something that is deviant for many but an occupation or role may make it non-deviant-if a teacher swore infront of pupils it would be unacceptable but not with friends
