What does the CPU do
The CPU will take inputs from an input device, process the input and output the results to an output device.

What is the fetch
In this step the CPU fetches some data and instructions from RAM and then store them in its own temporary memory

What is the decode
The CPU ‘decodes’ the instruction and gets things ready for the next step.

What is the execute
The Execute stage is where data processing happens. Instructions are carried out on the data.

What is cache
Cache is a small amount of memory which is a part of the CPU - closer to the CPU than RAM. It is used to temporarily hold instructions and data that the CPU is likely to reuse.
