A species is a group of organisms that can reproduce to produce fertile offspring.

To reflect evolutionary relationships between organisms.

How did traditional biological classification systems group organisms?
They grouped organisms based on the features they shared, using morphology and anatomy.

What are the disadvantages of using this form of classification?
Using physical features has many limitations and often lead to the wrong classification.

How do we classify organisms now?
We classify organisms according to the base sequence of their DNA. The more similar the base of the DNA, the closer related those two species were.
