What is the 2 stage serial processing theory?
1) The syntax is initially analyzed and the simplest parsing is chosen (stage 2).
2) Does it match the meaning? If not, the syntax is revised (stage 2).

What is the garden path model?
When encountering ambiguous sentences, the reader primarily considers only one syntax. When reaching a key point, if the meaning attributed does not work, the reader must backtrack and rebuild the structure of the sentence.

Strengths and Weaknesses of the Garden Path Model:
STRENGTH: Simple and coherent
WEAKNESS: Prior context can influence syntax parsing earlier than assuming
