Chemistry

?
How do you work out the atomic mass number?
Number of protons + number of neutrons.
1 of 10
What is an atomic number?
The number of protons/electrons. {The smaller number is the atomic number}
2 of 10
What is ionic bonding?
Giving/taking away electrons between a non-metal and a metal.
3 of 10
What is covalent bonding?
Sharing electrons between two non-metals.
4 of 10
Where are neutrons, electrons, and protons found?
Electrons are found in the outer shell, neutrons and protons are found in the nucleus.
5 of 10
What is a atom with a full outer shell called?
Noble gases.
6 of 10
What are the charges of protons, electrons, and neutrons?
Protons are positive, electrons are negative and neutrons are neutral.
7 of 10
What are the 6 things you need to include to get full marks in a 6 mark question about atoms?
SPG, include the charges of p, e, and n, electronic configuration, where the protons neutrons and electrons are found, the mass of protons electrons and neutrons, the atomic number and what group they are in.
8 of 10
What group do all atoms want to be like? Why?
Group 8 and because they want to be stable and unreactive.
9 of 10
Describe the atomic structure of an atom.
Protons and neutrons are found in the nucleus, protons are positive and neutrons are neutral, electrons are found in the outer shell and they are negative. The atomic mass is P(1) E(0) N(1). Their charges are + - neutral.
