crude oil heated at high temp, crude oil vapour evaporates and condenses at various temps and seperates in the fractionating column - fractions with low boiling point at top (gases), fractions with high boiling point at bottom (solid)

as oil gets used up more, prices will increase. countries with big stocks may keep them for their own use and stop selling them.

countries with most amount of oil will have power over others - able to choose who to supply the oil to and who not- cause political conflicts between countries
