Explain Dalton's model of the atom
He said the everything was made up of atoms and that all atoms and that all atoms of the same element are identical. He imagined atoms as solid balls.
1 of 5
Explain Thompson's model
He discovered that there were smaller particles called electrons that were found in atoms. He came up with the plum pudding model of the atom.
2 of 5
Describe Rutherford's scattering experiment
He fired alpha particles at a thin sheet of gold atoms and expected them to pass straight through the foil however instead some bounced off at different angles and others came straight back , few went through. They were being deflected by protons.
3 of 5
How did Bohr change the model from Rutherford's?
Bohr realised that electrons travelled in separate energy levels and placed them in shells.
4 of 5
What new sub atomic particle did Chadwick discover and how?
Chadwick discovered a new particle called neutrons that had the same mass as protons. They was more mass than was accounted for which brought up this idea.
