Cells (print)

?
What is active transport?
The movement of dissolved molecules into or out of a cell through the cell membrane, from a region of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration.
1 of 5
What is diffusion?
When particles move from a region where they are in high concentration to a region where they are in low concentration.
2 of 5
What is osmosis?
The movement of water from a less concentrated solution to a more concentrated solution through a partially permeable membrane.
3 of 5
Explain the effects of temperature, substrate concentration and pH on enzyme activity.
Increases with an increase in temperature and usually doubles with every 10 degrees rise. Acid and alkali environments can denature enzymes. Enzyme activity increases with an increase in substrate concentration as there are more random collisions.
