Carbon Cycle

?
Describe the 1st stage of the carbon cycle
Carbon present in atmosphere as CO2, this CO2 is absorbed by plants and algae and built into carbohydrates (during photosynthesis)
1 of 6
Describe the 2nd stage of the carbon cycle
Plants are eaten by animals so these carbon compounds become part of their bodies. Both plants and animals respire which returns CO2 to atmoshere.
2 of 6
Describe the 3rd stage of the carbon cycle
When plants and animals die, microbes digest their bodies (decay) and co2 is released into atmosphere. Not all plants/animals will decay, some will fossilise, and these form fossil fuels which humans burn, releasing co2 into atmosphere (combustion)
