Self test programme. (Ping Test)
Test connecting between the "local" computer and the hosting computer.
Uses ICMP to send an echo request message to the host.
If There's a response the echo request was sent and the host computer is working.

Ipconfig is a windows command where as Ifconfig is a Linux command but they have similar functions.
Can be used to identify the specific IP set up of the host.
Can be useful with dynamic IP addressing.
