Did a study on Geese. Seperated fertile goose egs into 2 groups: one group was put in with the mother to hatch natural, while the second group was placed in the inbucaltor.

The Geese Investigation (RESULTS)
Lorenzo made sure that the geese in the inbuculator saw him as the first moving object after hatching. The imprinted on him, and saw him as their 'mother' and followed him around.

The formation of RAPID ATTACHMENTS, it tends to be with the first large object they see, and it takes place between 13&16 hours after the ducklings hatch.
