?
Describe the structure of a chloroplast
Chloroplasts have a double membrane. They are filled with stroma in which there are thylakoid membranes which form stacks called grana, which are connected by lamallae.
1 of 6
Where do each of the stages of photosynthesis take place?
Light dependent - thylakoid membrane. Light indendent - stroma.
2 of 6
Describe the process of photolysis.
Light energy converts water into 2 H+, 2 e- and 1 O atom.
3 of 6
State the fate of ATP and NADPH produced in the light dependent reaction.
They are passed on to the light independent reaction where ATP supplies energy for chemical reactions and NADPH is oxidised.
4 of 6
What is the function of a coenzyme?
To transfer a chemical group from one molecule to another.
5 of 6
Why does the LIR cease in the dark?
Less supply of ATP and NADPH from LDR - conversion of GP to TP decreases - eventually there is no more TP to reform RuBP - reaction stops.
