?
Synapse
A junction between two nerve cells, consisting of a minute gap across which impulses pass by diffusion of a neurotransmitter.
1 of 6
Rats Savour Caburys Mini Eggs
Receptor, Sensory Neurone, CNS (Central Nervous System), Motor Neurone and Effector (usually a muscle cell)
2 of 6
Neurotransmitter
A chemical message that is diffused over the synapse between two nerve cells for an effective transfer of an impulse.
3 of 6
Reflex Action
A reflex action is an action where the impulse does not go to the brain as the action is involuntary e.g. iris in the eye contracting and relaxing in response to light, knee jerk action.
4 of 6
Osmoregulation
The regulation of water within the body.
5 of 6
Homeostasis
The maintenance of a constant internal environment.
