What is polytheism?
The belief that there is more than one God.

Having more than one wife.

What was the sun dance?
It was performed in order to get help from the spirit world and was performed in a circle as circles were sacred to the Indians.

What did the Indians live in?
Tipis

Why were the Indians nomadic?
They had to follow the buffalo heards and they did not believe you could own land as land was sacred.

Why was polygamy important to the Indians?
because women were very important. They did the majority of the work - all the men did was fight and hunt. The wives worked together to prepare food and keep the tipis.

What did the Indians do to their enemies in battle?
They scalped them because they belived it would stop them from going into the after life.

What was manifest destiny?
The belief that the white settlers had: that it was part of God's great plan for them to take over the Plains as they were better than the Indians in many ways including more technologically advanced.
