arbitrators have specialist knowledge of the relevant area e.g. and arbitrator in a building dispute is likely to be a surveyor

everything is done in private and the decision is not publicised

parties can decide the date time and venue of the meeting

there will always be a decision and it is binding to both parties, if one of them does not follow the decision then the other party can take them to court

it is leass formal than court so there are no complicated rules of evidence or lawyers required e.g. a dispute concerning your holiday would be dealt with by ABTA

it is quicker than ordinary courts and will only take one or two days. There are no court fees and if lawyers are not used then it is cheaper

saves the state money
if you dont go to court then the government saves money and there are no long delays
