Industrialisation

  • The industrial revolution saw the movement of people from the countryside to towns and cities to find work in factories and coalmines
  • The huge increase of the workforce produced outputs on record levels which massively boosted the economy of Britain
  • Influences of old landed aristocracy declined as land was becoming secondary in importance to urban businesses
  • A new middle class was created who owned factories, railways and coalmines.

Positive Analysis

  • Tax is more relevant; couldn't deny people the vote
  • New growing class of people making the country's money; new middle class argued they should have the vote
  • Growing economic power of new middle lass led to pressure on the Government- without them industry and economy would collapse
