What happens to the movement energy when things speed up or slow down? What Is Momentum?

HideShow resource information

When a force moves an object, work is done on the object resulting in the transfer of energy. Energy is measured in joules ( j )

Work Done = Energy Transferred

The relationship between work done, force and distance is:

Work Done (j) = Force Applied (N) x Distance moved in direction of force (m)

Kinetic Energy

Kinetic energy is the energy an object has because of its movement. It depends on two things:

  • the mass of the object (kg)
