Variation

Inheritance

Organisms have similar characteristics to their parents.

Genes are passed in sex cells from parents to offspring.

Genes control your characteristics of your body.

The nucleus of a cell contains chromosomes.  The chromoses carry genes.

Types of Reproduction

In A sexual reproduction there is no joining of gametes and only one parent.  There is no genetic variation in their offspring.

In sexual reproduction male and female gametes join.  The mixture of genetic information from two parents leads to genetic variation.

Clones are produced by A sexual reproduction and are identical copies of one parent.

Variety in offspring is actually helpful because some better characteristics for adapting to the surroundings are seen.

Cloning

The genetically identical offspring are called clones.

Plant clones can be made by taking cuttings
