Tombs, Graves and Burial

burial customs:

we know that the body would have been adorned with jewellery and we can assume that the bodies were dressed for burial as well. 
we are pretty sure that a drink offering was made to the gods bc there are cups on the floor to the enterance of the tholos tombs.

there was probably a meal in honour of the dead, and there probably would have been gifts (for the dead person) but they've been robbed. 
we have found dead horses in marathon and dendra, which might have been some sort of custom??? we're not 100% sure but there was a bit in the illiad where 2 of patroculus' dogs are slaughtered at his funeral.

after all this the earth over the grave would have been filled in and a raised mound made so u can see it from a distance. we do literally the exact same thing now when the…
