Theory: Marxism

?

Class Society and exploitation - Primitive communism early classless society. In class societies, one class owns means of production. Capitalist society is based on exploitation of free wage labours.
.Capitalism  - Based on the division between bourgeoisie and proletariat. Proletariat are legally free from means of production and have to sell labour. They do not recieve a wage which reflects their work. Competition between capitalists means ownership of means of production is in a minorities hands and therefore will pay lowest wages. This allows for a pursuit of growing profit.
Class Consciousness  - Capitalism sows the seeds of its own destruction. By bringing proletariat together they highlight the need to develop a consciousness of class position and overthrow capitalism.
Ideology  - Dominant ideas in society are the ideas of the economically dominant class. these ideas legitimise the existing social order as desirable or inevitable. This creates a false consciousness.
Alienation - This is a result of the loss of control over labour and its products. Unskilled labour reduces the proletariat to mindlessly repeating a meaningless task.
The state revolution and communism  - The state exists to protect interests of bourgeoisie. Any class that wishes to lead a revolution must overthrow existing ruling class. Marx was in favour of a classless communist society.
