Adrenal cortex
Uses cholesterol to produce a wide range of steroid based hormones. They enter the cell by dissolving into the cell ssurface membrane.
3 distinct layers:
1. Outermost layer (zona glomerulose), secretes mineral corticoides which help to control the conc. of potassium and sodium in the blood.
