Series and Parallel Circuits

Series Circuit - The series circuit is the most simple out of the two circuits. (http://revisescience.co.uk/2011/images/seriescircuit.jpg)This is what it looks like.

  • The current through each componet is the same 
  • The potential difference (voltage) across each component adds up to the potential difference of the battery
  • The Potential difference is largest across the component with the greatest resistance because more energy is transferred. 

Parallel Circuit - This circuit is a little more complicated but is more commonly used.
