Body Waves

P-Waves  -

These are compressional waves, this is becauses it squeezes through the material and pushes the material in the direction of travel.

They are the fastest of the body waves and therefore arrive at the seismograph first. They are able to travel through all solids and fluids.

They make the ground move mostly vertically.
