  • Augustine rejected Pelagius' free will theology because it diminished the power of God, making him something less than an omnipotent being
  • Pelagius' position made it possible for a mere moral agent to freely decide whether to be morally good or sinful; the implication of this was that the moral agent seemed capable of denying
