Photysynthesis

Light-dependent stage:

  • Light excites elctrons in the thylokoid membanes.
  • Elctrons move down the elctron transport chain from photosystem II to photsystem I.
  • During the elctron transport chain inbetween PSII and PSI chemiosmosis occurs.
  • Electrons that leave PSII are replaced from water moleclues.
  • Electrons that leave PSI are accepted with Hydrogen ion by NADPto form reduced NADP.
  • NADP then travles to the Light-Independent stage.

Light-independent stage:

  • Known as the Calvin Cycle
  • COcombines with RuBP forming an unstable 6 Carbon compound
  • This splits into 2x 3 Carbon molecules (Glycerate-3-Phosphate)
  • NADP and ATP form these into Triose phosphate
  • For glucose to form this must turn 6 times
  • This creates…
