Symbols- makes a distinction between signs and symbols. Signs are chose arbitrarily to stand for something else whereas a symbol “participates in” the object represented.

Blik- uses the analogy of someone thinking they are being targeted by everyone and no matter how much they are convinced otherwise they do not change their minds. This is a criticism of the falsification theory.
