In the marriage service of the Church of England, the couple getting married make vows to each other.
Marriage is important for Christians because:
it's a gift from God; it's part of God’s plan for creation that men and women should live together

Marriages in Islam are often arranged (by the two families of the bride and groom) but these can only take place with the consent of both parties. If someone was forced to marry then the marriage would be invalid.
Courting or ‘going out together’ is not permitted and the couple who may be married are only allowed to meet each other when members of their families are present.

The temporary marriage, or nikah mut'ah, is an ancient Islamic practice that unites man and woman as husband and wife for a limited time. Historically it was used so that a man could have a wife for a short while when travelling long distances.
