Rate of reaction- How fast something happens in a certain amount of time
Why does a reaction slow down as time goes on?
The amount of reactants decreases which means there is a lower frequency of collisions between particles so the reaction slows down
What is the equation for rate?
Change in concentration / Time
- CaCO+HCl in a reaction, HCl starts with 2mol dm^-3, it decreases to 1.5 mol dm^-3 in 3 minutes what is the rate of reaction?
- 2-1.5=0.5 0.5/3=0.167 mol dm^-3/min (3dp)
How can we measure the rate of reaction?
The mass of reactants used up or the mass of products formed
- Reactions take place when particles collide with a…
