Wave Properties
- The amplitude is the maximum displacement of a point on a wave from its undisturbed position, the wavelength is the distance between the same point on two adjacent waves, the frequency is the number of complete waves passing a certain point per second and period is the amount of time it takes for a full cycle of the wave
- In transverse waves, the oscillations are perpendicular to the direction of energy transfer and in longitudinal waves, the oscillations are parallel to the direction of the energy transfer
- wave speed (m/s) = frequency (Hz) x wavelength (m)
