Reason and Experience quotes. (they are created to be converted in audio)

Ayer- analytic propositions are. Quote. “true in virtue of its meaning”.

Ayer- synthetic propositions are. Quote. “Determined by the facts of experience”.

Liebniz- in the origin of contingent truths. Quote. “Necessary truths are true in all possible worlds”.

Locke- no innate knowledge. Quote. “no proposition can be said to be in the mind, which it never yet knew, which it was never conscious of.”

Locke-on acquiring concepts. Quote. “the senses at first let in particular ideas and furnish the yet empty cabinet: And the mind by degrees, growing familiar with them, they are lodged in the memory, and names given to them. Afterwards the mind proceeding further, abstracts them, and by degrees learns the use of general names. In this manner the mind becomes to be furnished with ideas and language.”

Locke. Quote. “All ideas come from sensation or reflection. Let us suppose the mind to be, as we say, white paper, void of all characters, without any ideas:- how comes it to be furnished?. Dot dot dot. To this answer, in one word, from experience.”

Aristotle. Quote. “There is nothing in the mind accept what was first in the senses.”

Hume- our ideas correspond to our experience. Quote. “If it happen, from a defect organ, that a man is not susceptible of any species of sensation, we always find he is a little susceptible of the corresponding ideas. A blind man can form no notion of colours; a death man of sounds.”
