Philosophy of Judges and the Appointment process

Philosophy of Judges 

• Judges split between originalists and loose constructuralists, or conservative and liberal 
• Liberal judges believe the constitution should be loosely interpreted, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Sonya Sotomayor just to name a few 
• Conservatives believe that the constitution should be taken at face value, John Roberts and Calrence Thomas are some 
• For example on the case of capital punishment, liberals are against it as they interperete the constitution as saying it is cruel and unnecessary, whilst conservatives believe that it should be kept as it isnt banned in the constitution
