PARSONS (H) (LIVESTOCK) LTD v UTTLEY INGHAM & CO

?

The claimants, pig farmers, ordered a bulk food storage hopper for storing pig nuts from the defendants. When the defendants installed the hopper, they failed to ensure that the ventilator on the top was open. The pig nuts went mouldy, and when the pigs ate them, they became ill with E. coli (an intestinal disease). A total of 254 pigs died.
