THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
THE CNS COORDINATES A RESPONSE
CNS --> Central Nervous System (Brain and spinal cord)
1. The nervous system is made up of neurones (nerve cells) which go to all parts of the body
2. The body has lots of sensory receptors - group of cells that detect a change in your environment
(a stimulus). Different receptors have different stimuli.
3. When a stimulus is dected by receptors, the information is converted to a nervous (eletrical) impulse and sent along sensory neurons to the brain
4. The CNS coordinates the response. Impulses travel through the CNS along relay nuerons
5. The CNS sends information to an effector (muscle or gland) along a motor neurone
6. The time it takes you to…
