The multi store model is made up of three main parts formulated by Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968). The first part is the sensory store, this holds experiences very briefly (about a second). To bring memory from the sensory store to short term memory you have to pay attention to it. The capacity is all sensory experience, the duration is a quarter to half a second and it's encoded sense specific. After you pay attention to it memory then goes to short term memory.
