Momentum

If a bus was to hit you at 20mph and a bike was to hit you at 20mph you are more likely to survie if the bike was to hit you. This is because of the momentum of each of the objects. The higher the momentum the higher the damage/impact will be. 

Momentum (kg/s) = Mass (kg) X Velocity (m/s) 

Momentum in an explosion: When an explosion occurs momentum is shared equaly between the two objects. However how each of the objects move depends on the mass and velocity.
