AIMS CONTEXT

• obedience is complying with the demands made by an authority figure, obedience occurs when we change our behaviour in response to a direct order by an authority figure the rules or laws
• Adorno et al 1950's reported an authoritarian personality type who were hostile to inferior people but servile to those of a percieved higher status
• They uphold the normality of society and are intolerant of uncertainty and alternative ways of life
• often prejudiced minority groups due to unconscious hostility
• Milgram interested 6million innocent people died by the nazi's
