Properties of metals:

  • Conducts electricity
  • Shiny
  • Strength
  • Heat conductor
  • Malleable - can be hammered/shaped without breaking 
  • Ductile - can be drawn out into a thin wire
  • Sonarous - makes a noise when dropped
  • High melting/boiling point

You have to be able to look at a use of metal and link it to the property of a metal. eg. Aluminium for saucepans because it conducts heat

Metals have metal ions surrounded by a sea of electrons. These decolourised electrons are free to move through the metal. The negative electrons glue the positive ions together.
