metal atoms are large and have a high tenancy to lose electrons
when metal atoms bond they are held in a regular arrangement
features
- solid at room temp bar mercury
- good electrical conductors- as the sea of electrons is able to carry an electrical charge through the metal as they want to move to the positive terminal of the battery for example - a flow of electrons is a flow of electrons
- good heat conductors- again becuase of the sea of delocalised electrons being able to transfer the kinectic energy that they have gained from the increase of heat to other electrons near by allowing the heat to spread through…
