Metallic bonding

Metallic bonding is the electrostatic attraction between delocalised electrons and postive metal ions.

  • There is no transfer of electrons as there is no non-metal present.
  • Form a lattice of postive ions
  • The electrons are delocialised(free to move)
  • The number of delocalised electrons depends on the metal atom.
  • Metals have a giant structure.
