Laud Huphrey's: Tea Room Trade


Laud Huphrey's Tea Room Trade - an example of 'covert' observation. This is because covert observation is usually done amongst groups considered deviant by society or in situations where the participants would not normally welcome 'outsiders'. 

Laud Huphrey did a covert participation observation in order to discover how men communicated their wishes to engage in sexual behaviour with other men in male public toilets.
