What is the Kingdom of God?

  • According to Jesus, the Kingdom of God is within people.
  • It is approached through understanding and entered through acceptance like a child.
  • It is a kingdom that will be inherited by the righteous.

Jesus taught this parable to a crowd. He was sitting in a boat on Lake Galilee. He left them to work out the meaning for themselves, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Jesus said to his disciples “the secret of the Kingdom of God has been given to you”

The lamp hidden under the bowl

To light a lamp and then cover it would be useless.

“Do you bring a lamp and put it under a bed or bowl? Instead don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought into the open.”

The seed growing secretly

People may remember what was said years ago, and it may change their lives.

Jesus will be at the harvest, the last judgment at the end of the world

“A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts up and grows, though he does not know how... As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts sickle to it because the harvest has come”

The mustard seed

The kingdom began with Jesus and has spread too many
